Upcoming iOS 5 untethered jailbreak

Just a few hours ago, @pod2g , a famous iOS hacker, posted on his twitter a video of a untethered jailbreak that he finally got it working.

In the video, it shows a iPod touch running on iOS 5.0. Pod2g showcased himself opening Cydia, indicating its jailbroken. He then switched off his itouch, and turn it back on, and reopened Cydia, indicating its a untethered boot.

This comes as a good news to us, seeing that Christmas is round the corner. A very good pleasant gift to all users out there waiting for a untethered jailbreak.

Right now as of posting, the untethered jailbreak will work on iOS 5.0 for all devices except ipad 2 and iphone 4s.

Let’s rejoice and wait.

H1Siri turning to a small scale testing stage

Few days ago, I wrote about the newest Siri port named “H1Siri” by a china dev team “CD-team”.

It seems that they decided to go the route of small scale testing. What this meant is that the H1Siri port that we installed will not work anymore. It is now nothing more then a Siri GUI.

This news came from their Weibo – a chinese twitter like service.

The previous versions of H1Siri is actually a leak of their testing. It was not supposed to be leaked into the public, which explains the crashing of their servers, and us not getting any response from Siri.

Right now, they are working on adding more functions before officially releasing it.

Technically, it is possible to create a siri server using your home computer. However, you will still need files from iphone 4s.

Well, at least it’s fun while it lasted.

Now, let’s see what the community are able to come up with.

Websites for free games/apps

If you’re like me, always on the lookout for free games/apps, but don’t want to pirate them, there are actually quite a number of websites around constantly updated with daily free games/apps that developer decided to make it free for a limited time.

Below are my personal favorites of website to hoot some shiny free games/apps.

1) Hardwarezone “Free for now” thread:

This thread is constantly updated of free games and apps that the friendly forum members over there discovered, mainly DAREN.

Make sure to always check out the latest post.

2) Apps Gone Free:

This website is my personal favorite. It only includes the best quality free games/apps that are free for a limited time. There is also a review of the games/apps that are free. Definitely check it out if you are looking for quality over quantity, because only a handful are featured here.

There are also many apps in the iTunes store that helps you to find free games, but most of them feature too much games that are not really worth your time.

Here are some you can check it out though:

– AppMiner

– FreeAppADay (Pretty decent)

– Game Spotlight

No matter which website/app you use, always remember 1 thing – Act Fast!

Siri ported to non 4s device

Just this afternoon, it was revealed to various websites about a unheard Siri port for non 4s device.

This port was done by a China developer team, named CD- Team.

Although not much is known of this team, it seems that they are working on a untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 in the past few weeks. However, not much is known if they are still working on it.

This port however, is their latest work on the jailbreak scene.

The file, 109 MB big, supposedly enable Siri for non 4S device, namely iPod touch, iPhone and iPad.

But does it works as advertised? Let’s find out as I try it on my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0

DeleteMail – One tap batch mails deletion

In iOS 3.x, people complained about the lack of mail batch deletion option. The only way back then was to swipe and delete each and every emails in your inbox.

In iOS 4.x, Apple introduced their batch mail deletion options. You tap edit, and you will have to tap the emails you wanted to delete. But it is still not enough. If you are like me, with mail box flooded with tons and tons of junk mails, this feature introduced by Apple is not enough. It’s impossible to select 1000 mails if you have 1000 mails in your inbox.
